RTU Career Day 2016

Following the examples of the best European universities the administration of Riga Technical University admitted the necessity of organizing Career Days. In 2004 for the first time RTU brought together industry stakeholders and students for an exhibition-type event during which students and company representatives were able to communicate directly in connection with the current events in the industry, possible internship and career opportunities.

RTU is one of the first universities in Latvian, which organized Career Days for students. This event was new to both groups: companies (participants) as well as the main target audience of visitors – for RTU students. During the first year of the exhibition there were 26 companies which participated in Career Days. Parallel to the exhibition corporate presentations take place where small groups of students acquire knowledge about the companies and current events in the chosen field.

RTU Career Day was held at the International Exhibition Centre in Ķīpsala on March 3rd and was attended by more than 120 companies and organizations, which together represented almost 30 different industries. During the exhibition special meetings took place where students were able to meet representatives of the companies to get advice on building the resumes, attend workshops and learn about creative job search methods and practical experience of the career development in various industries.
